چکیده

Using effective lagrangians which correspond to a wide range of values for K1 relativistic RPA calculations are performed for monopole and dipole compression modes in nuclei. It is found that Dirac sea states have an important effect on compression mode energies. Including these negative energy states into relativistic RPA brings the results into general agreement with those of time-dependent relativistic mean field calculations. Comparison with the giant monopole resonance data in Pb indicates that K1 is around 240 MeV. However, the dipole compression mode is predicted above 25 MeV in Pb in strong disagreement with experiment.

Isoscalar compression modes in relativistic random phase approximation

A fully consistent relativistic RPA calculation is performed for the monopole and dipole compression modes in nuclei. The emphasis is put on the effects of Dirac sea states which are generally neglected in relativistic RPA calculations. It is found that these effects can be quite important for the isoscalar monopole mode. The main contributions from the pairs of Fermi to Dirac sea states are th...

Theoretical understanding of the nuclear incompressibility : where do we stand ?

The status of the theoretical research on the compressional modes of finite nuclei and the incompressibility K∞ of nuclear matter, is reviewed. It is argued that the recent experimental data on the Isoscalar Giant Monopole Resonance (ISGMR) allow extracting the value of K∞ with an uncertainity of about ± 12 MeV. Non-relativistic (Skyrme, Gogny) and relativistic mean field models predict for K∞ ...

Deducing the nuclear matter incompressibility coefficient from data on isoscalar compression modes

Accurate assessment of the value of the incompressibility coefficient, K, of symmetric nuclear matter, which is directly related to the curvature of the equation of state (EOS), is needed to extend our knowledge of the EOS in the vicinity of the saturation point. We review the current status of K as determined from experimental data on isoscalar giant monopole and dipole resonances (compression...

Generator coordinate calculations for breathing-mode giant monopole resonance in the relativistic mean-field theory.

The breathing-mode giant monopole resonance (GMR) is studied within the framework of the relativistic mean-field theory using the Generator Coordinate Method (GCM). The constrained incompressibility and the excitation energy of isoscalar giant monopole states are obtained for finite nuclei with various sets of Lagrangian parameters. A comparison is made with the results of nonrelativistic const...
